OTE Group - Hyundai have recently launched the fifth generation of the popular Accent compact car in the Sultanate. The new-generation Hyundai Accent builds on the strengths of its predecessors, applying Hyundai’s modern engineering expertise to offer an all-new product that immediately establishes itself at the front of the small car segment. It features expressive and striking design, a high-tech interior, a more efficient powertrain, reduced cabin noise and remarkably improved driving dynamics, available with the latest safety and convenience features.
The all-new Hyundai Accent aims to be the segment benchmark for driving dynamics and safety, while delivering outstanding fuel efficiency and maintaining Hyundai’s unbeatable value position.
“This new model makes several key improvements on the previous Hyundai Accent, which was already an excellent car and very popular with customers,” said Hyundai’s Head of Operations for Africa and the Middle East, Mike Song. “Design and engineering are completely fresh, ensuring a car that looks superb, is enjoyable to drive, with high levels of safety, and will be economical to own.”
The design of the new Accent exhibits confidence and sophistication with sculpted body forms and smoothly contoured lines delivering a new interpretation of Hyundai’s signature design language. Every exterior detail expresses “modern elegance” and “rhythmical tension”, the keywords that guided the Accent team from the very first sketch and throughout the entire creative process, right up to the final design freeze stage.
From the front, the stylistic focus is Hyundai’s cascading grille, a visual signature providing unity across the Hyundai range, flanked by wraparound headlights and available LED signature daytime running lights. Accent’s sweeping roof profile and sharp character lines run the length of the car. These character lines meet available slim LED wraparound taillights. Features such as 16-inch alloy wheels and side mirror LED turn signal indicators add to the upscale feel of the car.
Accent’s interior continues the modern, confident, sophisticated look seen on the exterior. A driver-oriented layout with intuitive controls combines with improved interior roominess, high-quality materials and premium technology features, to raise the standard for its market segment. Premium, soft-touch materials in key points create an inviting and comfortable environment for the driver and passengers.
A wide instrument panel prominently features a standard backup camera system via the touchscreen LCD display. Beneath the screen, the control panel is laid out in a horizontal design with buttons and controls logically grouped by function. Other convenience features available include a proximity key with push button start, dual USB charging, and auxiliary input jacks.
Improved ride comfort, handling and stability are achieved through key developments in the suspension. Accent’s steering feel has been refined with improvements to steering efficiency, while enhancements to handling and ride comfort have been made by raising the rear roll center and increasing the leverage ratio of the rear shock absorbers. The standard Motor-Driven Power Steering (MDPS) system instantly adjusts to changing driving conditions for greater precision and steering feel while improving fuel economy.
The all-new Accent is offered with a choice of two four-cylinder petrol engines, with customers being able to select either the Gamma 1.6 producing 123ps (metric horsepower) with 15.4kg.m of torque, or the Kappa 1.4 producing 100ps and 13.5kg.m. Both engines are paired with a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission.
Other advances include reduced cabin noise and remarkably improved driving dynamics, both helped by a stronger body shell, and a selection of the latest safety and convenience features offered either as standard or as options. The All-new Accent is also slightly longer and wider than the previous model, including an increased distance between the front and rear wheels, giving occupants more leg and shoulder room.
Standard safety features include electronic stability control, traction control and anti-lock brakes, as well as emergency stop signal, which automatically flashes the brake lights when the driver brakes heavily. Available options include a six-airbag system, static bending headlights to provide better illumination of the road through corners, and auto cruise control.
“The New-generation Hyundai Accent includes many of the latest auto innovations available, immediately setting a new benchmark for its segment,” said Mike Song. “It offers something exceptional to car buyers, and will continue the Accent success story.”
With the all-new Accent’s unbeatable value proposition for buyers, Hyundai’ offerings in the Sultanate has become even stronger. Hyundai offers an array of sedans in Oman including: Accent, Elantra, Sonata & Azera, while trend setters for the modern youth continue to be the Veloster & Veloster Turbo. Hyundai SUV range offers exciting style, versatility, space and comfort. The line-up includes Creta, Tucson, Santa Fe & Grand Santa Fe each designed to fulfill the practical requirements.
