The 2007 Epica features a distinctly arranged front section, where particular highlights include the large wrap-around clear-glass headlamps, the substantial cross bar carrying the large Chevrolet bow tie in the chrome grille and fog lamps that integrate harmoniously like spotlights into the bumper.The side view is that of a strikingly modern vehicle with an eye-catching rising, wedge-shaped profile.It is marked by a striking character line that extends to the front and rear wings.

In terms of its vital statistics, the front-wheel drive Epica has grown a little compared with its predecessor. Its length of 4,805 mm (35 mm more) and its width and height measurements of 1,810 and 1,450 mm respectively, guarantee, in conjunction with its wheelbase of 2,700 mm, a generous amount of space for both passengers and luggage. For the latter, the trunk has a capacity of 480 litres. Extra space can be created by folding the rear seat backrest down onto the seat in the ratio of 1/3:2/3, and longer items such as skis can also be transported without any problems. Finally, gas pressure struts for the trunk lid also create more space in the rear.

Passengers also benefit from maximum safety and drive comfort. The modern chassis is equipped with McPherson struts at the front and a multi-link suspension at the rear. The Epica is fitted with four-disc brakes (ventilated at the front), four-channel anti-lock braking system and electronic brake-force distribution. The standard safety package in the Epica includes many passive safety features like the stable passenger cell (made 40% of high-strength steel), standard belt force limiters and belt tensioners, standard front airbags for the driver, in addition to optional passenger, side and head airbags.


The equipment in the new Epica conforms to the level of the upper mid-size segment. The Epica is available in two versions, the LS and LT.In the pleasant interior, the ergonomically designed cockpit with its large circular instruments makes life easy and comfortable for the driver. Even the basic LS version has a height-adjustable driver's seat, electrical window raisers at the front and rear, remote-controlled central locking, thermal insulation glass, air-conditioning and an FM/AM CD audio system.


The higher level Epica LT, has a number of additional comfort and safety features like the standard leather upholstery, electronically controlled automatic air-conditioning, cruise control, traction control and rear park assist.Eye-catching light-alloy wheels are also standard for the Epica (15" with 205/65/R15 for the LS, 16" with 205/60 R16 tyres for the LT, and optional 17" 215/50 R17 tyres).


Buyers of the new Epica will be able to choose between two six-cylinder engines with capacities of 2.0 and 2.5 litres. The two transversally installed, highly compact units are noted for their particularly smooth running, which is mainly attributable to their in-line design to give perfect mass balance.Unlike the V-design, neither free mass forces nor moments of inertia produce troublesome vibrations.A number of intelligent measures have also been taken to insulate the car body against noise, making the new Epica a particularly quiet member of its class.


The six-cylinder in-line unit develops 156 hp, giving the Epica a top speed of over 200 km/h. The Epica justifies its claim as a superb car not only in terms of its equipment. In matters of space too, the 4.81-meter long, front-wheel drive Epica can easily accommodate up to five passengers with luggage. It also sets standards from a technical point of view.


The elegant design, the exceptionally generous standard equipment of the two models – the LS and LT – and such details as light alloy wheels, automatic air-conditioning and high-grade audio system and rear park assist add up to make it a leader in its segment.Many of these features are only standard in higher category vehicles.
