Mr.Saad Bahwan, the Chairman of OTE Group, is the younger son of Mr.Suhail Bahwan one of the pioneers of successful business establishments in the Sultanate. Mr.Saad Bahwan formed OTE in a small way in 1990.

The companies that sprouted under the wings of OTE one after another since then are now firmly rooted, standing like pillars supporting the OTE Group in the Sultanate. Today they are well acclaimed business centers in the Sultanate namely: Oman Trading Establishment LLC (OTE), Oman Gulf Enterprises LLC (OGE), General Trading Establishments LLC (GTE), Vehicle Leasing Company (VLC),  Gulf Additives LLC, Souq Technia and Technical and Administrative Training Institute (TATI)

OTE entered the business scenario in May of 1991 with the Sumitomo Tyres. The company hasn't looked back since. In October 1991, OTE went into the automotive business with the auto brands GM, Hyundai and Isuzu and later in mid 1992 bagged the Subaru Franchise. The taking over of Ssangyong brand much later in 1999 completed OTE Group's armory to surge ahead with other product ranges Hummer . etc.

The electronics and Home Appliances division and the franchises of LG, Unionaire, Bosch, White-Westinghouse, Promate, Palson, Kenstar, Gehanz, Prolux,Pearl, TCL Air Conditioners, Hostess, etc.  were added on as the company blazed its way to success.

OTE is proud of its manpower and recognizes the pivotal role of human resource in its success. In 1991, the company had about 150 employees and today the company's strength is over 1,500 committed employees.
