From spirited and sporty to refined and
elegant, the Optra suits all occasions and all drivers. The
sedan and sporty five-door hatchback offer style, performance,
contemporary looks and spacious interiors - all in an attractively
priced package. The Optra wagon offers space and functionality
to individuals who lead an active business or social life
and young families, with a combination of performance and
practicality.
Drivers will
be pleasantly surprised by how much room the Optra wagon
provides for passengers and cargo. Behind the large tailgate,
it accommodates five passengers or a maximum capacity of
1,971 litres with the rear seats folded down. In addition
to the 60/40 split-folding rear seats, the wagon offers standard
alloy roof rails, an additional 12-volt power socket in the
luggage compartment and up to 25 individual storage spaces
inside.
Under the hood of the Optra is the modern
4-cylinder engine. The 1.6 litre in-line 4-cylinder DOHC
engine, delivers 107 horsepower at 5800 rpm and 147 Nm of
torque at 4000 rpm.
The Optra features
a sophisticated four-wheel independent suspension system
with MacPherson struts, offset coil springs and a stabilizer
bar for the front; and a MacPherson strut dual link suspension
with coil springs and a stabilizer bar in the rear. Combined
with the 15-inch P195/55R15 all-season steel-belted radial
tyres and power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering, these
features provide exceptional ride quality and control that
make the Optra as fun to drive as it is economical to own
and operate.
The Optra offers
standard four-wheel power disc brakes in a segment where
rear drum brakes are the norm. Up front, the Optra is equipped
with 256 mm ventilated discs, while 258 mm discs are in the
rear. Advanced anti-lock brakes are available.
Chevrolet Optra offers generous cabin space
with plenty of head, leg, shoulder and hip room for front-
and rear-seat occupants. Optra's interior is as functional
as it is stylish, thanks to an abundance of storage areas,
including a deluxe centre console and overhead compartment,
in addition to the 60/40-split folding back seat. The interior
is unassuming yet has a classic, upscale flair, while the
black instrument panel features strong horizontal elements
trimmed with brushed aluminum. Two-tone interior fabrics,
theatre-dimming interior light, power window switch illumination,
an intuitive instrument layout and numerous storage compartments
promise a very inviting driving environment.
The Optra also
makes driving a simple pleasure, with standard convenience
features including tilt-adjustable steering column; lumbar
support; front-floor console with armrest, storage and cupholders;
a driver foot rest; electronic cruise control and reclining
front bucket seats with shopping bag hooks. All seats in
the Optra are upholstered in premium fabric.
The instrument
panel on the Optra is brushed aluminum with analog cluster,
speedometer, tachometer, temperature gauge and fuel gauge.
The instrument panel also provides a centre storage deposit
tray, cigarette lighter, ashtray with lamp, illuminated ignition
keyhole, extra 12-volt outlet, digital quartz clock, illuminated
glove box and knee bolsters for both driver and front passenger.
Optra provides
a comprehensive safety package that includes frontal dual-stage
air bags for driver and front passengers that deploy at two
different levels depending on the severity of a crash; child
security locks on the rear doors; a power window lockout
device; and four-wheel disc brakes with available anti-lock
brakes.
For added protection, Optra features an
energy-absorbing steering column. In addition, energy-absorbing
materials are used in the upper interior structure to help
protect the head in the event of a crash.
