LG Electronics has announced
its very first smartphone for theMiddle East,
the LG-KS20, which will be available at the
end of November. The phone, aimed at business
professionals, boasts Windows Mobile 6.0
Professional edition, a 2.8-inch touch-screen
display and a two-megapixel camera, along
with HSDPA (i.e. high-speed internet), GPRS
and EDGE support.
LG says the phone can download content such
as music and video clips at a speed of up
to 3.6Mbps (via HSDPA and providing this
is offered by the operator), and believes
this speed, along with the phone's second
user-facing camera, makes the LG-KS20 a strong
video-conferencing solution.
"More and more customers
are using the internet while on the go. HSDPA
technology is just one of the features we
included in the LG-KS20 to enhance their
mobile internet experience," stated
K.W. Kim, president of LG EMEA.
Apart from HSDPA support, the 3G-enabled
LG-KS20 also features WiFi and Bluetooth
2.0 connectivity. On the storage front, the
phone includes 128Mbytes of ROM, which can
be upgraded further via the external MicroSD
slot. The LG-KS20 weighs 95 grams and resembles
the firm’s high-end Prada phone, which was
launched earlier this year in the region.
