It is mated to the advanced Hydra-Matic 6T75 six-speed automatic transmission with clutch-to-clutch shifting. This combination enables the Traverse to offer unsurpassed fuel efficiency.

With its long wheelbase of 3,019 mm and wide tracks, the Traverse has a low centre of gravity that is evident through its stability, smooth ride and handling and easy cornering.

Thanks to an advanced suspension system, the Traverse boasts great responsiveness on all roads. The front suspension features a MacPherson strut design, with direct-acting stabiliser bar and aluminium knuckles. Moreover, the isolated mounting points help reduce noise, harshness and vibration, adding to the comfortable ride. Other noise reducing elements include a slick 0.33 Cd drag coefficient and exterior touches including a hidden roof rack and smooth A-pillars.

The rear suspension uses a state-of-the-art linked “H” design, which relies on an isolated mounting system. This design brings all the handling prowess that comes with independent suspension, but with minimal floor-pan intrusion, and is a feature that helps the Traverse offer such generous passenger and cargo space.

Power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering is standard, while variable-effort steering is also available. The suspension and steering systems meet the road via 20-inch wheels on the LT and LTZ, while 17-inch wheels are standard on the LS. Four-wheel disc brakes with ABS are standard on all variants.

Also standard on the Traverse are several features that enhance ride and handling as well as safety, such as the StabiliTrak electronic stability control system with rollover mitigation technology and a sophisticated traction control system.
