The CSV CR8 brings race tech to the
roads in a package that blends power, luxury and
technology in one seamless package. The CSV CR8 is a car
that can be used during the week as a regular road car
but can transform into a pure bred racer on weekends to

It epitomises the CSV CR8 brand’s
core values of outstanding sporting performance combined
with exceptional value for money, but the latest CSV CR8
elevates that equation to a stratospheric new level and
has a stunning street-wise road presence, more
performance technologies and more driver oriented
sporting appointments.
While there is no doubt that it
makes an extraordinary value for money offering, such
are the incredible credentials carried by the high
performance CSV CR8 sporting sedan that it can hold rub
shoulders with the world’s best sporting sedans and
surprise many with its amalgam of luxury, power,
handling and ride.
The CSV CR8’s ‘Sports Performance’
styling package makes a big, bold and very assertive
statement. The finely chiseled twin-nostril grille tops
a front facia that features a dynamic lower intake
complete with V8 Supercar-like pseudo brake cooling
ducts and a set of driving and fog lamps. These
two-stage driving lights significantly increase
visibility, aiding in safety by providing illumination
up to 450 meters.
The side profile is dominated by
signature fender vents and the striking 19-inch alloy
wheel design which deliberately exposes the awesome CSV
CR8 brake package, as well as emphasising the vehicle’s
rear drivetrain.
The rear statement is no less bold
with a lower diffuser section that carries a set of
ultra-cool quad exhaust outlets and, arguably ‘the jewel
in the crown’, LED rear lamps.
Mounted below the rising side

The CSV CR8 interior has an

message and there’s a unique CSV CR8 sporting seat
design enveloped in leather. Sporting highlights include
a unique CSV CR8 instrument cluster, as well as a
smoothly integrated three gauge, dash top auxiliary
gauge cluster, incorporating ventilation vents and a
chunky design steering wheel rim.
While styling makes a breathtaking
first impression, it’s also backed up with extensive
engineering program and injection of technology that’s
just as outstanding.
The CSV CR8 uses 81 percent high
strength steel in its construction to aid in enhanced
safety, not to forget contributing immensely to superb
ride and handling dynamics. Shell stiffness is immensely
enhanced, thanks to the whole side body, from the A to
behind the C pillar, pressed from one lump of metal -
one large single molding. To further improve side impact
protection, an ultra-high strength steel reinforcing
core is hot-stamped into each B-pillar.
The fuel tank sits forward of the
rear suspension, helping with weight distribution by
putting more mass within the tracked-out wheelbase as
well as better rear-end crash protection. Battery is also situated in the
boot.
CSV CR8’s unique 6.2 litre V8 now
produces an exhilarating 312 hp @ 6000 rpm and 542 Nm @
4600 rpm. This not only makes CSV CR8 one of the fastest
sedans in the world, but also makes it a member of the
ultra-elite ‘four second’ club. This figure is reached
by coupling the powerful engine with a manual gearbox –
featuring an upgraded MIO Tremec T56 six-speed manual
with an improved gear shift mechanism for smoother and
faster shifting – now takes a scintillating 4.96 seconds
for the 0-100km/h sprint. And this is a proper sedan
laying its stake in proper high-value Supercar territory
and if that’s not fast, then what is!
The CSV CR8’s Engine Control Module
is capable of performing calculations of the main
functions such as fuelling and air flow every 6.25
milliseconds. Just think about a second = that’s 165
calculations in just one second. The ECM has improved
engine responsiveness, driving pleasure, while
maintaining fuel efficiency levels.
In addition the ECM features a
special mode allows the engine to continue to operate,
even after a loss of engine coolant. It completes this
by enriching the fuel mixture, shutting down four
cylinders and alternating between them after a few
cycles.
Effectively the rich fuel and air
mixture cools the cylinders and allows the vehicle to
continue its journey at speeds up to 80 km to get you
home safely (during normal operating conditions).
With such enormous power and torque
being generated, it is equally important to have the
right kind of retardation to bring this beauty down from
speed. And the CSV CR8 delivers the goods right on the
dot! Developed in conjunction with AP Racing, it
consists of enormous (365mm front and 350mm rear)
grooved and ventilated rotors complete with extremely
rigid four piston front callipers that reduce flexing
and improve pedal feel and performance. There’s also the
latest CSV CR8-tuned Bosch ABS system and more linear
friction levels from the new brake pad
material.
To its electronic driving aid
arsenal, the CSV CR8 incorporates the cutting edge
technology of Electronic Stability Control (ESC). It has
been developed, calibrated and tested to exacting
requirements to deliver improved overall safety levels
without detracting from the driving
experience.
The CSV CR8’s ‘Racing Suspension’
is tuned for driving enjoyment. It incorporates more
linear springs (less progression) to enhance the initial
steering inputs and delivers an agile, responsive feel,
as well as front rebound springs (inserted in the shock
absorber) which effectively reduce front roll to give a
sharper turn-in feel. The longer wheelbase of the new
chassis brings a bonus in a smoother, more compliant and
refined ride quality.
The CSV CR8 is not just about
power, performance and luxury. Safety is paramount and
the CSV CR8 employs a number of aids in the safety
department. Electronic Stability program (ESP), Traction
Control System (TCS), ABS (Anti-lock Braking System)
with Brake Assist and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution
all contribute in not only getting the CSV CR8 safely
down from speed but do so in a most comprehensive and
progressive manner. Stopping distance from 100-0km/h is
36 meters – far better than more expensive European
rivals.
Steering response is extremely
accurate as befits a car of this genre and this is
thanks to the steering rack being moved forward, large
diameter front struts and the use of an unique 20mm
stabilizer bar. Progressive rate front and rear springs
help in keeping the handling and ride characteristics
supple and surefooted. This offers sporty driving
characteristics whilst maintaining comfort.
Air bags are standard for driver
and front passenger as are side air bags. To avoid
whiplash, Active head restraints are
employed.
