- The
Cadillac SRX with its bold breakthrough styling brings a
heightened level of performance and flexibility to the luxury
sport utility vehicle segment. It is a vehicle able to handle
whatever path is put in front of it, yet drives like a sports
sedan and is unlike anything you are likely to see on the
road.
The elegantly handcrafted interior adds more
luxury and convenience to its acclaimed blend of driving
performance, spacious versatility and passenger comfort.
The Cadillac SRX has earned an award-winning
reputation for its crisp design, outstanding performance,
practical functionality and value. Named Saudi Auto magazine’s
‘SUV of the Year’ in 2005 and Car and Driver (USA) magazine’s
Best Luxury SUV for an unprecedented third consecutive year in
2006.
The SRX features the longest wheelbase in its
class to help provide superior ride quality and dynamic
stability, thanks to its Cadillac-exclusive architecture. A
near 50-50 weight distribution, low center of gravity,
outstanding powertrain combinations and GM’s StabiliTrak
stability control system help SRX deliver a fine balance
between sports car performance and refined ride quality.
StabiliTrak is a fully electronic system that
coordinates subsystems such as braking, suspension, steering,
traction control and powertrain controls to optimize overall
vehicle stability and control.
It acts instantaneously to reduce the likelihood
of spins and excessive oversteer or understeer by improving
handling performance and enhancing vehicle stability when the
car approaches its limits, helping to correct a potential
slide or loss of control even before the driver is aware of
it.
Magnetic Ride Control, pioneered by Cadillac in
2003, provides state-of-the-art, continuously variable
real-time damping at each wheel independently and is available
on V6 models.
A genuine all-rounder, the Cadillac SRX remains
the division’s first-ever luxury crossover vehicle and it
communicates Cadillac's bold design vocabulary with its crisp,
sharp-edged look, striking vertical headlights, bold front
side sections and the V-shaped front tapering into the classic
Cadillac grille. Without a doubt, SRX is instantly
recognisable as a Cadillac and yet is unlike anything else on
the road. There is strong family resemblance to CTS and
Escalade, thanks to its chiselled form as seen in its vertical
taillamps and headlamps and V-shaped
grille.
The SRX interior features a new instrument
panel, hand-wrapped upper trim, console, center stack, door
trim, wood trim, analog clock and steering wheel, providing a
more inviting and luxurious environment. Spaciousness was
enhanced with a new center console and a new storage
compartment on the passenger side of the instrument panel. The
luxurious environment inside the cabin is more inviting, with
softer tactile surfaces, new flush-mounted switches and
controls, and greater use of wood grain and chrome trim. The
instrument panel and door trim are built using Cadillac’s
“cut-and-sew” interior process that combines advanced
technology with the hand-rendered expertise of expert
craftsmen.
The SRX seats up to seven passengers with the
optional third-row seat. The second-row seat, with the most
legroom in its class at 104cm, folds virtually flat, and the
available third-row seat power-folds into the floor at the
push of a button. Third-row seats also feature cup holders.
The powered rear liftgate can be opened or closed by merely a
press of a button and this comes as
standard.
The optional “UltraView” sunroof provides the
thrill of an open-air driving experience and is the largest
sunroof system in the segment. It extends to provide 0.52
square meters of open air over the first- and second-row seats
and integrates a retractable power shade. The “UltraView Plus”
includes a glass roof over the third-row seat with a power
sunshade.
SRX comes with a 3.6-litre V6 VVT (255 hp (net)
– 344 Nm(net)). The
V6 engine is mated to the Hydra-Matic, a fully electronic
five-speed automatic transmission. This transmission features
Driver Shift Control (with clutchless manual shifting),
electronically controlled engine braking and downgrade
detection with brake assist.
A new appearance package to make the exterior of
the vehicle better communicate its performance driving
character can be specified by SRX consumers. The SRX Sport is
an option package featuring front and rear sport fascias, new
body-color grille with V-Series-style mesh backing, 4-inch
dual polished exhaust tips, six-speed automatic with Driver
Shift control, and optional 20-inch Sport wheels with
performance tires. It also features all-wheel drive and a
limited slip differential, the first time Cadillac has applied
this performance differential to an AWD model.
SRX’s in-vehicle electronics and entertainment
are luxury-caliber, too: A Bose 5.1 Digital Surround system is
available, while the standard audio package also is by Bose.
Also available is a “theater” package consisting of Bose 5.1
Digital Surround, DVD navigation and rear-seat DVD
entertainment.
In addition to numerous storage areas, an
optional rear cargo management system, available as an
alternative to the third-row seat, offers three cargo
compartments and includes a removable storage bin. It’s
perfect for stowing anything from a car care or emergency kit
to sports equipment to DVDs or CDs for a long drive. For still
more cargo packing, large side storage bins along the rear
cargo area are standard.
SRX also adds an automatic odor filtration
option and standard PSIR suppression, which enables the
Passenger Side Inflatable Restraint to detect the occupant’s
size and, in turn, enable or disable the air bag
automatically.
SRX has a total of six airbags offered as
standard equipment. The airbags are designed to work in
conjunction with the seat belt system to help protect occupants while minimizing
the risk of injury to out-of-position occupants. The SRX is
equipped with a dual stage driver’s front airbag and front
passenger airbag; driver’s and front passenger side
seat-mounted airbags for thorax protection and two roof rail side
curtain airbags for head protection in the first and second
rows. All are controlled by an airbag system central control
unit - the Sensing Diagnostic Module
(SDM).
When the SDM detects an impact, it determines
whether the crash is severe enough to trigger a deployment and
whether the primary
amount of inflation is sufficient, or if both primary and secondary stage
inflation is required. The primary stage alone will deploy in most frontal impacts
requiring the supplemental protection of an airbag, while the
secondary stage will also deploy in very severe
frontal collisions.
The SDM also detects side impacts and determines
whether the rail-curtain airbags should deploy. These airbags
act like a protective curtain, unfolding from
the roof rail between the A and C pillars. When the bag
deploys, it is angled towards the window to help maximize
protection.
Other standard safety features on SRX include
Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist, seatbelt pretensioners, the
LATCH system (an anchor and tether for easy installation of
child seats at both outboard positions of SRX's second row), child security door
and window locks, anti-theft protection and battery rundown
protection.
All
Cadillac models sold in the Oman come with a free service and
maintenance package for 4 years or 100,000 km (whichever comes
first), in addition to around the clock roadside assistance
and General Motors’ patented bumper-to-bumper warranty. This unsurpassed care
package offers Cadillac customers an unparalleled sense of
security and total peace of mind, enhancing the overall
Cadillac experience.
