The Escalade uses a magnetic ride control system which actively “reads” the road in 1-millisecond intervals. Its electronically controlled shocks, which are filled with a synthetic fluid containing minute iron particles, alter damping resistance once a magnetic charge is applied. This is the world’s fastest acting standard active suspension also found in GM’s top performance cars like the CTS-V and Corvette ZR1. 

The Escalade line-up features an integrated powertrain, chassis, safety and interior system. The Escalade comes with a compact and lightweight 6.2-litre, all-aluminium L94 V8 engine delivering 403 hp at 6,000 rpm and 562.9 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm.  

This engine uses Variable Valve Timing (VVT) to optimise camshaft timing to improve low-rpm torque and high-rpm horsepower, and is fitted to a Hydra-Matic six-speed automatic transmission. One of the industry’s most advanced automatics, Hydra-Matic features clutch-to-clutch shifting and has a wide, 6.04:1 overall ratio—including two overdrive gears—that helps deliver a balance of performance and fuel economy.  

The Escalade is designed to be among the industry’s safest and most secure vehicles, with numerous safety systems and crash-avoidance technologies. These features include dual-stage frontal and side-impact air bags, driver and right-front passenger with rollover protection for all rows of seating and a 360-degree front safety belt pretensioner activation system.  

The standard StabiliTrak stability control system’s anti-rollover technology, which uses sensors to apply appropriate brake force to help prevent rollovers. For unpredictable weather conditions, the Escalade comes with a full-time all-wheel-drive system, four-channel StabiliTrak and a Borg-Warner, one-speed, full-time open-differential transfer case. Any of the four wheels can be independently controlled with the four-channel system, offering more stable, controlled ABS stops. This also improves fuel economy, reliability and serviceability, and gives greater yaw-stability control. Other benefits include reduced understeer and more controlled brake pressure.
