The Malibu is available in three trims— 1LT, 2LT and LTZ.  1Lt comes with an ECOTEC 2.4L  4-cylinder VVT engine and 2LT comes with  a choice of an ECOTEC 2.4L, 4-cylinder VVT engine or an award-winning  3.6L V-6 VVT engine. 3.6L V-6VVT engine is standard on the LTZ edition. Both engines are mated to automatic six-speed transmissions with manual shift control.

The exterior’s pure lines lead to the dual-port grille. The grille reflects the global face of Chevrolet, while a bold body-colour horizontal bar, which displays Chevrolet’s signature large, gold insignia, separates the ports. The body is lower, longer and a little more aggressive than typical midsize family sedans, making it bigger, wider and roomier than others in the segment.

A family of 18-inch aluminum wheels is offered with the Malibu, all tailored with a tight wheel-to-body relationship. Precise details complement the design though minimised panel gaps and select use of chrome trim. Front fog lamps and clear-lens LED-lit tail lamps are standard on the LTZ, as are dual chrome exhaust outlets.

Interior attention to detail matches the quality of the exterior. It is styled ergonomically using premium materials, including leather and Ultralux trim, which together convey luxury. The integrated, flowing instrument panel features a Chevrolet-signature, dual-cockpit design, with prominent gauges backlit in blue. Metallic or wood grain accents, a remote start system and USB port come as segment exclusives.

All models feature two-tone trim combinations, including Ebony and Brick, and Cocoa and Cashmere. Alternatively, an all-Ebony combination accented with a distinctive wood-grain offers a unique, upscale appearance.

Ambient lighting increases the Malibu’s inviting feel. The overhead console-mounted LED lights, and those in the door-pull pockets, provide subdued lighting to the centre console area between the front seats.

Seating is designed to achieve a balance between luxury and performance, with foam contours designed for more aggressive driving without sacrificing comfort. The seats also have adjustable headrests, while the rear seats offer a 60/40 split and can fold flat, giving more room for cargo. The Malibu also boasts the largest trunk in the segment with a capacity of 427 litres.
