Hyundai Motor took seventh place in a reliability survey by the U.S. magazine Consumer Reports, up six notches from the previous year. New models from Hyundai are edging closer to its competitors in reliability. Hyundai continues to make most reliable vehicles with only 11 problems per 100 vehicles against US cars which have 16 problems and European cars that have 19 problems.
The survey is based on 1.3 million consumers’ one-year evaluations of cars that were released in the U.S. between 1997 and 2006, and ranks models by how many problems they had. “31%

is a major milestone. Many Japanese competitors are far behind Hyundai. Some
of them even have a negative mean percent score.” said a senior Hyundai official.
“This ranking demonstrates what tremendous improvements Hyundai has made in
reliability Hyundai performed better than German brands which got 19th, 27th & 36th rank. Even the US & European
brands have a poor score when compared to Hyundai. In the Consumer Reports survey, Hyundai’s Santa Fe sports utility vehicle named the most impressive car, while the Hyundai AZERA was named the most reliable new model. This is extremely promising for Hyundai customers here in Oman as they can find more reliable cars. Reliability is always a main concern for new car buyers. So the move-up in reliability ranking will give a boost to Hyundai sales, which are already up significantly this year, and help the automaker achieve its growth targets.
